Another dream came true in Glyfada! The unused building block enclosed by Epaminondas, Hefaistou, Dimela and Poseidonos streets was transformed into a state-of-the-art, fairy-tale traffic management park, with traffic lights and basic traffic signals, to teach children safe driving behavior experientially.

It opened its doors on Saturday, May 20, and classes will soon begin, which will be held during the afternoon hours. "You can also bring your own bicycles, skates, cars - but we have also procured special children's cars," says the mayor, Giorgos Papanikolaou, who publishes impressive photos. Check out his post:

It seems that in Glyfada, an unused building block has been transformed into a traffic management park aimed at teaching children about safe driving behavior. The park includes traffic lights, basic traffic signals, and various facilities for children to practice cycling, skating, and driving toy cars. The park officially opened on May 20, and classes will soon begin in the afternoon hours.

The mayor of Glyfada, Giorgos Papanikolaou, expressed excitement about the new park, highlighting its features such as quality construction, modern specifications, numerous trees and plants, safe playground equipment, bioclimatic materials, and specially designed roads and crossings for children. The park aims to provide a safe environment for children to learn about correct driving behavior and traffic etiquette from a young age.

Children are encouraged to bring their own bicycles, skates, and cars, but the park also provides special children's cars. Free road safety and traffic education courses will be offered, with online pre-booking available. Additionally, collaborations with schools are planned to provide separate sections for students on weekdays.

The project was made possible through the efforts of the municipal authority, the employees of the Municipality, the Green Fund, the contractor company ZITAKAT, and various other companies involved in the construction and equipment of the park. The responsibility for coordinating the traffic education courses lies with the Deputy Mayor of Sports and Youth, Periklis Dorkofikis. The aim of the program is to provide children with knowledge and hands-on experience in traffic education and sustainable urban mobility, preparing them to navigate roads and transportation systems safely.

Overall, the establishment of this traffic management park in Glyfada demonstrates the city's commitment to creating quality public spaces and promoting road safety education for children.
