A football stadium in Greece has been equipped with 48 Ultra-S Series 1500W LED high mast lights.
Mounted on four high-mast poles at heights of 24 to 25 metres, the lighting system was designed to deliver
powerful long-distance projection and highly uniform illumination across a standard 105 × 68-metre football field.
By combining 20° narrow-beam and 40° medium-beam optical distributions, the solution provides precise coverage of
the playing surface, sidelines and goal areas. The professional DIALux lighting design achieves a calculated average
horizontal illuminance of 917 lux with an excellent uniformity of 0.88.

Illuminating a full-size football field from mounting heights of up to 25 metres requires more than high wattage.
The lighting system must project light over long distances while maintaining sufficient illumination across the centre,
sidelines, corners and goal areas.
The main objectives of this project were to:
Deliver strong illumination from high mounting positions.
Achieve consistent light levels across the entire playing field.
Reduce obvious dark areas and excessive brightness variations.
Allow each luminaire to be aimed according to its assigned field zone.
Provide a practical installation and maintenance arrangement for the high-mast platforms.
The completed system uses 48 Ultra-S 1500W LED high mast lights installed on four poles positioned around
the football field. Each pole carries 12 luminaires, creating a balanced four-point lighting layout.
The optical configuration includes:
36 luminaires with 20° narrow-beam optics.
12 luminaires with 40° optics.
The 20° narrow beams provide concentrated long-distance projection from the high-mast poles towards the central
and opposite areas of the field. The 40° beams provide wider coverage for the sidelines, corners and nearby zones.
Each luminaire is individually aimed according to the DIALux lighting plan. This multi-angle arrangement directs
the available light towards specific areas of the pitch and supports a more uniform overall lighting result.
The project’s photometric files specify a calculated luminaire output of approximately 245,900 to 246,800 lumens per fixture.
This high output allows the Ultra-S 1500W stadium lights to illuminate large sports areas effectively from mounting heights of 24 to 25 metres.
The combination of high luminous output and application-specific optics helps concentrate light on
the playing surface instead of relying on uncontrolled wide-area distribution.
The lighting design was calculated using a maintenance factor of 0.90.

The calculated uniformity of 0.88 indicates a consistent distribution of light across the football field.
This helps reduce noticeable brightness differences and supports clear visibility for players, officials and spectators.

The Ultra-S high mast light features an adjustable mounting bracket that allows installers to set the required aiming direction for each lighting position.
